Your own software, just like you imagine it

I meet a lot of AI resistance. “AI can’t be trusted with code.” “AI makes lots of mistakes.” “AI slop.”

There are legitimate reasons to be sceptical or anti-AI. Bad output is not one of them. Let me show you.

The voice is mine. So is the music: Solitude, from Rise Above. Claude made the rest.

What it shows

  • funkey: a game engine for the terminal, and its games. It plays the original Doom. Most of the games play in a browser.
  • CHasm: a complete desktop in assembly. Under one megabyte. More than 20 hours of battery life on my laptop.
  • Fe₂O₃: more than forty apps in Rust. Mail, calendar, editor, file manager, trading, web browser. The periodic table, the stars, the Standard Model, the universe.
  • ferrite: an SQL database. One afternoon.
  • nomad: it all follows me onto the phone.
  • Several complex web solutions, from a learning platform to a data lake for financial data.

Every application I see is my application. I stopped using other people’s applications.

The film

No video editor. Claude wrote one script that draws every picture of the film.

I read the voice-over in ten takes while the film played. Claude found the time of every word I said and hooked it all up.

Summary

Built with Claude Code. This film was created to inspire you to create stuff you might need.
