Siv reminded me of something important a couple of weeks ago; “It is more important to make the other person feel good than it is to be right.” This was reinforced by a couple of comments by Morten Lind-Olsen the other day.
This can be debated, and you can easily find counter-examples. But let it sink in just a bit. If the other person is not feeling good, then any right you may have or be, will not make much impact. A person needs to be receptive to receive.
It’s in line with this quote from Wayne Dyer, “When the choice is to be right or to be kind, always make the choice that brings peace.”
And this attributed to Lao Tzu, “Let go of your attachment to being right, and suddenly your mind is more open. You’re able to benefit from the unique viewpoints of others, without being crippled by your own judgment.”
Or from Scooter (originally John Templeton), “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”
Peace.
